Laura's Country Homestay
During our time in Jervis Bay we rented the most beautiful holiday home, Laura's Country Homestay. Laura rents out her house to holidayers and wedding parties, and we could not believe how lucky we were to be staying here. Our welcome committee consisted of Frank the dog and Lilly the cat, and those two pretty much became our adopted pets for the whole weekend. The house was filled with comfortable furniture, art and books. The kitchen was dreamy, stocked well with all manners of pots and pans, crockery and utensils. There were three covered patios, a barbecue and a piano. At night, we could watch a colony of flying foxes come awake while sipping a beer.
Laura herself stays in a small studio in the garden when she has guests, and we were given total reign of the main building. Laura sat with us one evening after dinner for a chat, but we did not feel intruded upon at all. It was more like having a friendly neighbour over for a drink.
The house had such a good vibe, I felt at home right from the minute I walked in. I even got up early each morning to do yoga in the airy study, something which I hadn't done for months before. I wished we could have stayed longer, or Jervis Bay was closer for us to return to Laura's sanctuary. If you are ever in that area, I cannot recommend her homestay warmly enough.

ReplyDeleteThank you. I did love looking at all the collections. I'm sure all the little things have some kind of background story.
Deletelooks lovely! SO much better than a hotel with the teensy "kitchen". That wooden carousel is adorable - is it a vintage toy?

Hi and thanks for your comment! I completely agree, this was better than any hotel could ever be! I'm not sure about the carousel. I didn't dare touch it, but it looked like it was spinnable.
DeleteTHAT CAT.

One of the 'things' that made me love it there! :o)

ReplyDeleteWell, this was the best place I've ever stayed at! It felt so homely! And yes, do travel!!! I love seeing new places and exploring, even if it's just a day trip or a new part of your own town. New experiences and impressions always totally invigorate me.
